A solo show by Joan Giordano exploring the delicate balance between the fragility of the human condition and the power of humanity.
Serrano contemporary is pleased to present Time Travelers: expressive works by New York artist Joan Giordano, Opening, Thursday November 20th from 6 to 8pm; extending through Saturday January 10th.
Giordano’s work is part of a continuing series of sculptures that relate to the energies of nature. Giordano fuses disparate elements such as metal, paper, wire, cable wood, wax and other materials that work together in dialogue.
In combining these various objects both man made and natural, she references states of transformation between natural and urban life.
Joan Giordano has enjoyed nearly twenty solo shows and has taken part in countless group exhibitions nationally and internationally. She has been awarded fellowships at the Awagami Factory in Japan, at the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York.
A review by Jonathon Goodman of her recent show appears in Sculpture Magazine December 2007.
There will be a reception for the artist on November 20th from 6pm- 8pm.
